Winter is well and truly with us here in the UK! Just a couple of weeks ago London awoke to a thick blanket of snow, which of course caused travel chaos, but that’s another story altogether! I can safely say that I am not a winter lover. Having moved to London from sunny Cape Town about sixteen years ago, I think that I am finally beginning to acclimatise to the chillier Northern Hemisphere weather.

But one thing I do like about the colder and darker months is the opportunity to make my home feel warm, cozy and welcoming, and a great way to do this is to experiment with lighting. I think that absolutely all pendant and spot lighting should be dimmable, and be layered with various lamps dotted around the room, giving you total control of the ambience of the room.

A few weeks ago I was invited to the Habitat Light Club Event, which is fun-filled night held in the lighting section of the store. We were treated to cocktails, DJs and flexible break-dancers that made me feel about 90 years old, and of course the opportunity to ogle Habitat’s fab lighting range close up.
